Students' Academic Code of Conduct

  • All students must read and comply with university policy and procedures.
  • Students are responsible for ethical behavior in academic tasks and avoiding plagiarism/academic dishonesty.
  • Students face penalty and disciplinary action for academic dishonesty.
  • Declaration sheets referencing GU's plagiarism definition must accompany coursework submissions.
  • Academic misconduct cases follow stringent GU procedures.

Proper Citation & Referencing

  • Students must credit original authors and properly cite interpretations.
  • Follow instructor-directed referencing patterns (author, title, publication details, page numbers).
  • Proper citation prevents plagiarism; originality and critical thinking are encouraged.
  • Paraphrased or referenced material requires acknowledgment of the original source.
  • Modifying text without attribution constitutes plagiarism.

Plagiarism and Academic Misconduct

Plagiarism is not tolerated. Copying previous projects or others' work is prohibited.

Turnitin & Academic Integrity

  • Plagiarism is academic misconduct regardless of circumstances.
  • Instructors must explain plagiarism forms before assignments.
  • Students should check work via Turnitin before submission.
  • Plagiarism is serious; penalties escalate with repeated offenses.

Examination Conduct

  • Cheating during exams violates GU guidelines.
  • Disturbances (talking, cheating attempts) during exams are prohibited.
  • Caught cheating results in strict disciplinary action.
  • Repeated incidents may lead to course/semester/university dismissal.

Appeals

Students may appeal disciplinary actions. Students retain appeal rights for disciplinary decisions.
